New Insurance Rule for Vendors

Many vendors have already heard about the new insurance changes that are being made this year for Cranfest. For those of you with questions, here are some more details.

The Warrens Cranberry Festival Inc. has liability insurance on all lawns, streets, parks or any property the Fest uses throughout the village of Warrens prior, during, and after the festival. This is required by the village, the property owner, the county government, and our insurance company.

The Festival rents vendor space to our visiting vendors. Once you have been accepted and your check cashed by Fest, the vendor is responsible for all liability insurance in their rented assigned booth. This requirement does not include product liability, which is cost prohibitive. If you wish to acquire it on your own, it is your prerogative. Examples: Someone trips over a box or display in your booth and falls, breaks their glasses or worse their arm, they will sue you, Cranfest, the property owner and the village. We all need protection against this type of incident. Most county/state fairs, art/craft shows, and flea markets require this type of liability insurance. Some homeowner policies will let you add liability for shows to your policy. Some are restricting liability to garage/yard sales on your own property. Most vendors take out liability policies for the season/annual when they are doing shows. Some policies run $100 per show or $500 for the summer season. Check insurance in your area. A local insurance company in our area that is aware of this that you could possible check with is Westland Insurance in Tomah.

A current copy of your liability insurance covering your rented booth space must be in our Cranfest office prior to set up. This may be mailed or faxed to Cranfest. This is for your own protection as well as Cranfest's, and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Vendor Mapping to Begin Soon

Our vendor chair is getting ready to map out vendor spaces for this year's Cranfest. This means that until she is finished mapping, we don't know your booth number or exactly where your spot will be for this year.

If you haven't already sent your application in, get it in the mail soon because time is running out. After the vendors have been mapped, you may not be able to reserve the spot that you want. So hurry up and get those applications in!

Where will your spot be?

Many returning vendors at Cranfest want to make sure they have last year's spot back, and who would blame them? After all, when you've had so much success in the same place, why would you want to move? At the office, we have gotten countless calls involving people who want to know if they will be in the same spot this year.

On the other hand, we also have numerous calls from new vendors wanting to know if they can choose their spot. Unfortunately, we can't make those decisions at the office. Our vendor chair is in charge of laying out the map, which usually happens as we get closer to festival.

So, if you're a vendor, what's the best way to ensure that you will have the spot you want? Make sure you put any special requests, including where you would like your booth to be, on your application. This is the best way to let our chair know where you want to be. Our chair always takes your requests into account, and will do her best to put everyone in the areas they want.

Best of luck at Cranfest!
