Just in time for Thanksgiving, try this delicious yummy delight! Cranberry Heaven - 1st Place Winner of the Fresh Cranberry Category in the 2010 Warrens Cranberry Festival Recipe Contest!

Topping:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (1 12-ounce package)
Pick over and rinse cranberries with cold water and drain. In a medium size saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil. Stir to dissolve sugar; add cranberries. Return to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 10 minutes or until cranberry skins burst. Remove from heat. Cool at room temperature.
Nut Crust:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Put ingredients into a medium size mixing bowl. Mix with fingers until crumbly. Press into bottom of 9x13 pan. Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees or until light brown.
Filling:
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Reduce oven to 350 degrees. Combine filling ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Beat on high until blended and smooth. Pour over crust and bake 25 minutes. Cool 15 minutes. Spread cranberry topping over filling. When cool, frost with 8 ounces of thawed whipped topping.
Yield: 12-15 servings
